Sorry About The Reality TV
Well, the title of this entry is a lie. I AM NOT APPOLAGETIC ABOUT LOOOVINNGG REALITY TV! I can not get enough of reality TV, especially as so many of the programs on TV are unimaginative. At least reality TV means watching people who live and breathe and exist in a "real world".
One of my favorites is Big Brother. Its one of the few summer programs available that is not a repeat. It saves me from TV depression on those really hot days. And, to top it off, it plays three times per week. It is chalk full of beautiful and weird people. There is always some sort of conflict amongst the house guests. And then there are the competitions, which are always good for a laugh or two.
Survivor is another favorite. I love watching the contestants suffer out on the beaches, full of bug bites, eating very unappealing things. I love the reward challenges and the immunity challenges. Last seasons group of four who "took it all the way" renewed my belief that "underdogs" can do it! This season promises to mix it up by allowing the survivors to live together at first, and then break off into a "poor camp" and a "rich camp".
The first couple of weeks of American Idol are always good for a laugh. I do not watch the actual singing contest, but the auditions are really something! These people really do believe that they can sing....and their families and friends encourage them to go on national TV and make fools of themselves!
The last but definitely not least.......my favorite all time reality show....... The Amazing Race. I could only dream of a chance to run a race around the world. I love the road blocks and detours. The contestants are always an interesting bunch and they go to a wide array of countries I will only dream of visiting in my lifetime.
To cap it off, I will admit that my favorite reality stars are Rob and Amber. They were on Survivor twice, and will be running in the Amazing Race All stars this season. That in itself will ensure I keep on watching this season.
